Overview:

This course is ideal for you if you are an aspiring or an existing History HOD. It is designed to enable you to examine your own skills as a leader and manager, as well as planning how to manage and monitor more effectively the performance of your department. The day is lively and practical, showing the benefits that a vibrant History department brings to its students and the wider school community.

The course receives excellent feedback from History HODs, who finish the day with tons of new information to take their departments forward. Many people who attend appreciate the lack of PowerPoint and group work, and find instead though-provoking, reflective and subject-specific training from an expert in the field. Typical comments for the day focus on the useful and practical nature of the training, and the fact that issues of direct importance to History HODs are dealt with effectively.

As the day focuses on what is practical rather than theoretical, you will leave with a whole range of new ideas and skills, which you can put to immediate use on return to school.
