Overview:
Are you an NQT or a teacher with another specialism who has been timetabled to teach RE classes? Are you looking to gain confidence, share good practice, reduce stress, manage the workload and make a real impact? And all at the same time? Phew! If so – then this is the course for you!
The day starts by putting RE teaching into context. Following on from this, attention is turned to what makes an effective scheme of work, and to creating lessons that interest and motivate students. One thing that many new teachers dread is poor behaviour, and the course offer strategies for dealing with difficult individuals and classes. Above all, teaching should be enjoyable, and the course offers useful strategies to make your mark within the school – without burning out!
By the end of the day, you will have the information to develop your own Personal Action Plan, which you can create on your return to school or college.

Course programme:
The day starts at 9:30 for registration, and the first session is at 10:00. The course ends at approximately 15:45.
There are refreshments at registration, mid-morning, lunch and mid-afternoon. Full delegate materials and a certificate of attendance support the course.

Tutor – Roger Daniels:
As Head of RE in suburban and inner city schools, Roger has inducted NQTs both formally and informally, helping them to gain confidence, become valued and effective teachers and move on to manage their own departments. Roger values the enthusiasm, diversity and enjoyment that NQTs and other teachers can bring to RE, and their ability to create lessons that interest, challenge and motivate pupils. Now working as an RE Training Consultant, Roger's interactive training style includes sharing the ideas, techniques and experience which can really help NQTs and other RE teachers develop their understanding of the subject and raise their confidence within the classroom.
