NQTs in Science: Making A Real Impact And Living To Tell The Tale

Overview I Course Programme I Tutor I Dates and Locations | Course Feedback I Booking

Overview:

If you are a Science NQT, this course is ideal for helping you make an impact whilst preserving your sanity!

The first year can make you feel overwhelmed by the huge number of tasks and responsibilities you have to juggle just to keep you head above water, and this can seem worse in a core subject like Science with pupil progress being scrutinised through national testing at KS3 and KS4.

This course offers you practical, real-world advice and the chance to meet and network with other Science NQTs. It prioritises what really matters, and provides strategies on how to satisfy the requirements of Ofsted, maximise pupil progress, deal with challenging behaviour and prepare pupils for examinations - without making the workload impossible!

Main features of the course:

  • Understanding why some lessons are successful – and others aren't!
  • Setting appropriate, differentiated objectives
  • Using marking, monitoring and assessment to motivate students and improve their performance
  • Dealing successfully with challenging behaviour
  • Achieving well run, focused practical sessions
  • Creating an effective laboratory

Is this course for me?

The course is suitable for all NQTs and returners who wish to gain confidence in applying current teaching methods and in preparing pupils for external assessments. It is also of interest to Science teachers in their first few years of teaching.

Course feedback:

What people who have attended Beverly 's courses have to say…

  • Very useful and relevant
  • Very informal style and yet it was a very well structured INSET. Beverly 's flexibility allowed a lot of input from participants and our outputs were made to seem valuable
  • Good springboard for sharing ideas and focussing action back in school
  • A very useful day, learning strategies to motivate students, different tasks that can be employed in the classroom. Thank you!
  • Excellent. Good to meet others with the same problems. Very good for helping target pupils. Will help to address problems in course work
