Understanding Your Personal Power & Time Line Therapy®

Empowerment is a word that we here frequently these days. But what does it mean? In my mind empowerment is about an individual having full access to their own personal power and resources which allows them to take charge of creating all that they want in their lives. Empowerment is about taking responsibility for your own results. And that’s not just the good stuff, that’s also the not so good stuff and recognising that it’s all feedback and provides an opportunity to learn and development further.

Frequently people mistake the idea of responsibility as being the same as “fault” or “blame”.  Rather than pointing the finger at another person or indeed yourself trying to attribute blame or fault in some way.  Look at the experience that you’ve had and search for the meaning within it. What can you learn from the event. That’s being at cause.

Cause and effect is an important theme that we discuss in our  Time Line Therapy ® trainings. From a physical point of view cause and effect is very simple. Let’s take the example of a brick wall. If I bang my head against a brick wall, it’s going to hurt and every time I bang my head against the wall, my head is going to hurt. That’s cause and effect. Now, here’s where empowerment comes in through responsibility. Some individuals will see quite clearly they are the cause of the head banging. They can see that if they can interact with the wall in a different way and they will therefore get a different result. It’s possible that they can find a way over it, under it, around it or possibly through it because the head banging really hasn’t worked for them!

So what about the those people who remain on the effect side of the cause and effect equation? Well you’ll probably hear them say things like: “It’s not fair, why do I have to bang my head against the brick wall, I wish it would just disappear!” Or “The wall is just too big and it’s never going to go away, so I’m always going to have this headache!” Or “I can’t do anything about it, the wall has always been there for as long as I can remember.” Hmmmm can you relate to any of this?? The question is, in the various areas of your life, which side of the equation are you on cause or effect? Ie where are you open to creating change to improve your results (that’s being at cause) and where are you stuck with a brick wall or limitation (that’s being on the effect).

In most traditions and in Time Line Therapy ®, we teach that not only your actions but also your thoughts and your words have creative power as well. What you hold in your mind creates a result, so everything you think, everything you say and everything you do has consequence. This means that at some level you created everything that is in your world, everything that is around you. Knowing that you have caused this result, you realise that you can change it. And with Time Line Therapy ® you have additional power in that you can choose how you want to create events in the future. As you begin to own that power and realise that you can create your world exactly as you want it, your unconscious mind will accept your evaluation as truth and act accordingly.

The laws of the Universe that exist in all of Nature dictate that all of our material things and all of the people on this earth are connected. The truth is that  what we experience as our reality in this material world is only defined by what we can tangibly see, hear, feel, taste and smell – but that’s just the tip of the iceberg so to speak.

What’s fascinating is that beneath the surface of our form, is a reality that  is composed of frequencies. These frequencies can and are constantly and subtly altered as we interact with them at an unconscious level.

They can and are altered and changed by the electrical impulses that are your thoughts, they will align to deliver you all that you focus on negative or positive it cares not, it is driven by focus and focus alone.

Stop for a moment and just think for a minute how easy it is to create the things that you are passionate about and that you believe that you can have, this is your evidence of this simple principle at work.

This helps you to understand  the mysteries that create the law of attraction within our universe. Time Line Therapy ® & The Language of Time

Time Line Therapy ® techniques gives the Time Line Therapy ® Practitioner a very precise method for eliciting how an individual stores time. Along with the formal elicitation process it’s possible to detect a person’s time line by listening to them talk and watching for gestures that analogical mark out how they code time. Often when you talk to someone about an event that happened in the past, maybe last Christmas or a job interview, then they will point in a certain direction that denotes where their past might be. The same is true about the future. If you talk to someone about next Christmas or them successfully negotiating a pay rise at work in the future, they will mark out where their future is by pointing or gesturing to it.

Also listening to the words and the expressions that an individual chooses to use can also be revealing to the Time Line Therapy ® Practitioner. For example, maybe the person went to a job interview and it didn’t go too well for them. In describing that experience to you they might say that they have put it “behind them” or that experience is something that happened in the “dim and distant past.”

Interestingly, for some people, events in their future may seem “a long way off.” And for others, time just seems to “fly by.” So we can start to see how language (how an individual is “gauging” and describing) their life experiences is important because it gives the Time Line Therapy ® Practitioner a literal reflection of how the person internally represents time.

With any great skill that you have learned, you actually went through this 4 stage process. By consciously having an awareness of this process you can ensure that you become masterful at it and that will ensure you are a magnificent Time Line Therapy ® Practitioner.

First of all there is unconscious incompetence, you don’t know what you don’t know, this is followed by conscious incompetence, you now know what you don’t know, with practice you will quickly attain the level of conscious competence. At this stage you utilise consciously and competently what you now know and finally one morning without warning you will have reached unconscious competence, where you simply and elegantly flow in a completely unconscious way. Think about when you first learnt to drive a car, there seemed like a thousand things to pay attention to all at one time, and remember if you can the first time you jumped in the car, drove off down the road and then suddenly realised that everything was being done for you by your unconscious mind.

Make sure you present a professional, confident capable persona to your clients at all times, when they believe that you are a Masterful Time Line Therapy ® Practitioner then you will be to them a masterful  Time Line Therapy ® Practitioner.

Confident Consistent Correct Practice Equals MASTERY
If you want to learn something important then it is worth striving for expertise, you wouldn’t want to go to a brain surgeon who had just scraped through his brain surgery exams. Mastery comes with persistence and with learning from and incorporating all and any feedback. If it is worth doing then it is worth doing well.

The Pygmalion Effect
This refers to the fact that typically in life we manifest what we believe and what we expect. Robert Rosenthal and Lenore Jacobsen wrote a paper on their study of groups of students. A group of A grade students were given a teacher that had been told that her class were all no hopers, the bottom of the barrel, because of the teachers belief the students grades dropped dramatically. A group of F grade students were given to a teacher that had been told that her class were all gifted high achievers and again because of the teacher’s belief all of the student’s grades increased significantly.
